Juvenile offenders committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice, for both determinate and indeterminate sentences, undergo intake, orientation, and evaluation with the Central Admissions and Placement Unit. The CAP phase is completed either in local Juvenile Detention Centers (JDC) with a CAP unit or at the Juvenile Correctional Center (JCC).

Following completion of the CAP phase, a staffing is held to review identified treatment needs, available resources, and most beneficial placement for the completion of the juvenile commitment status. Juveniles can be placed at the JCC, Bon Air campus, JDC's with Community Placement Programs (CPP), or be recommended for Continuum services.
